Tbilisi Protests: Opposition Figures Plan Palace Storm Amid Arrests

Today's protest in Tbilisi was not a spontaneous event. Opposition figures, including former general prosecutor Murtaz Zodelava, had been planning it for weeks. The gathering aimed to overthrow the government and storm the presidential palace. Opera singer Paata Burchuladze, another opposition figure, had announced the start and end time of the protest.

Murtaz Zodelava, a key organiser, called for a 'revolutionary process' and urged protesters to take control of the Presidential Palace. He expressed willingness to sacrifice his life, stating 'I am ready today to throw my own body into the ranks of the special [police] forces'. However, speeches at the parliament continue amid confusion and dissatisfaction, as protesters lack a concrete plan. Zodelava had earlier stated that the process would require 'several days of struggle'.

Murtaz Zodelava's arrest for inciting the overthrow of the government and organizing mass violence has not deterred the opposition. Protesters remain determined, with Zodelava's words echoing: 'a revolutionary process has begun in the country'. The situation in Tbilisi remains tense as the struggle continues.
