Swissport strengthens security with new ISO and IATA certifications for travel and pharma logistics
Swissport has expanded its security and compliance credentials with new certifications for its Matchbox platform. The company's Düsseldorf site also earned a key industry qualification for handling pharmaceutical shipments. These updates strengthen Swissport's ability to verify travel documents and manage sensitive data securely. The Matchbox platform now holds ISO 27001, 27017, and 27018 certifications. ISO 27001 covers information security management, while ISO 27017 focuses on cloud security controls. ISO 27018 ensures proper handling of personal data. Swissport had already achieved company-wide ISO 27001 accreditation in 2023.
Matchbox helps airlines check passengers' travel eligibility in real time. It reduces the risk of denied boardings by verifying documents during online check-in, at self-service kiosks, and via ground staff. The system relies on its own database of global entry regulations, updated daily with over 22 million pages of requirements.
Separately, Swissport's Düsseldorf location recently gained IATA Pharma certification. This qualification confirms the site meets strict standards for transporting temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. The new certifications reinforce Swissport's position in secure travel document verification and data protection. Airlines using Matchbox can now rely on stronger compliance measures for passenger checks. Meanwhile, the Düsseldorf site is prepared to handle specialised pharmaceutical logistics.
