SWG renews Deutschlandstipendium support for nine Gießen students in 2024

Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has renewed its support for local students through the Deutschlandstipendium. The company is funding nine scholarships this year, continuing its partnership with the national programme since 2012. Each recipient receives 300 euros per month, with SWG covering half the cost.

The Deutschlandstipendium helps high-achieving students across Germany, regardless of their field of study. Selection is based on academic performance, talent, and personal background. Unlike loans, the scholarship does not need to be repaid and does not reduce BAföG eligibility.

This year, six of the nine SWG-supported students are enrolled at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM), while the remaining three attend Justus Liebig University. Six recipients are studying subjects linked to SWG's focus on energy and environmental fields. Funding lasts for at least two semesters but cannot exceed the standard degree duration. The programme relies on equal contributions from private sponsors and the state. SWG has been a consistent partner since 2012, helping students in Gießen pursue their education without financial strain.

The nine scholarships will provide steady financial aid for at least two semesters. SWG's contribution ensures that local students can focus on their studies in energy, environmental, and other disciplines. The programme remains open to new applicants each year, offering support to both first-year and continuing students.
