Stuttgart Customs Raid Bosnian Construction Firm Over €1.6M Social Security Evasion
On October 15, 2025, Stuttgart Customs Office executed multiple search warrants, investigating a Bosnian construction company suspected of evading millions in social security contributions. The company, employing over 90 foreign workers, is accused of violating approved work contracts. Two managing directors, a father and son, face criminal proceedings for causing €1.6 million in losses.
The investigation, still ongoing, involves evaluating evidence seized from searches at residential and business premises in Stuttgart and Esslingen. Employees at the company's construction sites were questioned about their employment conditions. If further investigations confirm contract violations, the two men may also face charges of illegal foreign employment.
Authorities suspect that the company violated contract terms, potentially rendering them void and subjecting workers to mandatory German social security contributions.
The suspected evasion of social security contributions totals millions. If the company is found guilty, it could face significant penalties and the workers may be retroactively enrolled in German social security. The investigation remains active, with more details expected in the coming weeks.
