String of Burglaries Hits Ober-Widdersheim and Butzbach in 48 Hours
A series of burglaries struck Ober-Widdersheim and Butzbach in early February 2026. Thieves targeted both a private home and a shop, stealing tools, optical devices, and other valuables. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.
The first break-in happened at a single-family house on WydratstraĂe in Ober-Widdersheim. Between 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, and 8:30 a.m. the next morning, burglars forced their way in. They took several chainsaws, axes, and other items before fleeing.
Less than 24 hours later, another burglary occurred at a shop on Butzbach Market Square. This time, the perpetrators broke in between 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, and 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5. They pried open a basement door and stole multiple pairs of glasses, a measuring device, binoculars, and additional goods.
No similar crimes with matching patterns were recorded in Mittelhessen throughout 2025. Friedberg Criminal Police are now leading the investigation into both incidents.
