Strabag Sends 3,000 Employees to ISS with CMS Assistance

Global facility services provider ISS has agreed to take over Deutsche Telekom’s facility management operations in Germany. The deal, set to begin on July 1, 2019, will see ISS employ over 3,000 staff previously working under Strabag Facility Services. Legal and regulatory steps are still required before the transfer is finalised.

The transaction involves ISS assuming responsibility for Deutsche Telekom AG and its German subsidiaries. As part of the agreement, all affected employees will receive job offers from ISS, ensuring continuity in their roles from July 1, 2019.

Strabag, the former service provider, engaged multiple law firms to manage the transition. CMS advised on labour, tax, and corporate law aspects, marking its first involvement with Strabag’s facility services division. Previously, CMS had only worked with Strabag’s construction sector. The firm also supported negotiations between Strabag, Deutsche Telekom, and ISS. Before the handover, Strabag Facility Services received legal guidance from GSK Stockmann. Meanwhile, ISS was represented by the German law firm Noerr throughout the transaction.

The transfer of over 3,000 employees to ISS remains dependent on regulatory approval. Once completed, the deal will expand ISS’s presence in Germany’s facility management sector. Deutsche Telekom’s operations will continue under the new provider from the start of July.
