SPD's Stefan Zimkeit Proposes Relief Measures for Families and Institutions Amid Rising Energy Prices
Stefan Zimkeit, a state parliament member for Oberhausen-Sterkrade and financial spokesperson for the SPD group, has proposed several measures to ease the burden on families and institutions amidst rising energy prices and inflation. He aims to provide immediate relief and support to affected residents and services.
Zimkeit proposed covering parents' fees for open all-day primary schools to help families struggling with inflation. He also called for a statewide 29-euro ticket for public transport to make it more affordable for commuters.
To assist with energy costs, Zimkeit suggested a hardship fund for electricity and gas customers. Additionally, he proposed a 200-million-euro protection shield for socially and health-related institutions, and a 300-million-euro energy cost subsidy for associations, clubs, and cultural institutions. He urged the state government to act in 2022 to help people cope with rising energy prices and inflation.
To offset costs, Zimkeit proposed filling unfilled positions in NRW schools and reversing the expansion of ministerial bureaucracy. He also emphasized the importance of supporting daycare centers in Oberhausen with increased funding.
Stefan Zimkeit's proposals aim to provide immediate relief to families, institutions, and residents affected by rising energy prices and inflation. If implemented, these measures could significantly improve the situation for many in North Rhine-Westphalia.
