Spate of crimes in Lahn-Dill-Kreis leaves police searching for answers
A series of incidents in the Lahn-Dill-Kreis area has left local authorities investigating multiple cases of vandalism, theft, and dangerous driving. Between Wednesday, March 4, and Monday, March 2, reports included a pub burglary, a hit-and-run collision with a traffic signal, and reckless driving on a major roadway. Police are now seeking witnesses and information to identify those responsible.
The first incident occurred at a pub on SeelbachstraĆe in Haiger-Seelbach. Unknown individuals broke in between 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 4, and 8:15 AM the following day. They forced open a window to access the dining area, pried apart two gaming machines, and stole the cash inside. Before leaving, they also took money from a donation box. The total estimated damage and loss from the burglary amount to around ā¬2,000, including roughly ā¬400 in property damage.
Earlier, on Monday, March 2, a Dillenburg police patrol found a damaged traffic light near 6 OranienstraĆe at about 5:00 PM. Officers suspect an unidentified driver collided with the signal and fled without reporting the incident. No further details about the vehicle or driver have been released.
Separately, witnesses reported dangerous driving on LandesstraĆe 3052 near Kƶlschhausen on Saturday, February 28, between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The driver of a black BMW with WZ license plates was seen spinning tires, accelerating suddenly, and drifting. Authorities are urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.
Police continue to investigate the pub break-in, the hit-and-run collision, and the reckless driving report.
