Southern Hesse Police crack down on crime in Darmstadt’s Safety Week 2025

During 'Safety Week 2025', Southern Hesse Police conducted extensive operations in Darmstadt. Led by Bernd Hochstädter, they checked over 300 individuals, inspected numerous vehicles, and initiated 26 criminal investigations. Fines totaling thousands of euros were imposed.

On November 7, police targeted Herrngarten Park and Luisenplatz, stopping and checking over 60 individuals. They recovered a stolen bicycle and launched two drug-related investigations. Additionally, static traffic checkpoints on B3 and B26 resulted in six drivers suspected of driving under the influence and a forgery investigation.

Officers also inspected several establishments. Two restaurants in Darmstadt and one in Kranichstein were checked, leading to violations related to gambling machines and hygiene deficiencies. Police operations also led to investigations on suspicion of illegal residence and tampering with official seals. Two machines were sealed, and one was confiscated. Estimated fines exceed €40,000.

These enforcement actions aim to deter criminal activity, especially during the 'dark season', to maintain Southern Hesse's status as the safest region in Hesse. The police conducted a total of 154 vehicle checks and screened 309 individuals during the operations.
