Sophos strengthens cybersecurity with new firewall and SOC.OS acquisition

Sophos has announced two major updates to bolster its cybersecurity offerings. The company has launched a new firewall with enhanced network capabilities and acquired SOC.OS, a specialist in security alert automation. These moves aim to boost efficiency and integration for customers.

The new Sophos firewall introduces software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) features alongside improved virtual private network (VPN) performance. These upgrades are designed to make networks faster and more flexible for businesses.

Separately, Sophos has acquired SOC.OS, a cloud-based platform that automates security alerts and triage. The system consolidates and ranks alerts from different security tools, helping teams respond faster to threats. SOC.OS also supports a wide range of third-party integrations, which will now benefit Sophos customers directly.

The acquisition will fortify Sophos' managed threat response (MTR) and extended detection and response (XDR) services. MTR, one of the company's fastest-growing offerings with over 8,000 customers, will gain deeper visibility into security events. This addresses customer demand for better integration between Sophos solutions and existing cybersecurity setups.

By adding SOC.OS, Sophos will expand its adaptive cybersecurity ecosystem. The platform will pull in alerts and telemetry from third-party products, giving organizations a clearer picture of potential risks across their systems.

The firewall upgrades and SOC.OS acquisition will give Sophos customers more control over network performance and threat detection. Businesses using Sophos MTR and XDR can expect tighter integration with their current cybersecurity tools. The changes reflect ongoing efforts to simplify and strengthen cybersecurity management.
