Somali national arrested for ā¬170 airport ticket scam in Frankfurt
A 24-year-old Somali national was arrested at Frankfurt Airport on July 24, 2025, on suspicion of fraud. Federal police detained the man after he allegedly scammed travellers out of ā¬170 by posing as a ticket assistant. Authorities acted quickly following video evidence and witness reports.
The incident began on July 23, 2025, when the suspect approached multiple travellers at the airport. He offered to help them buy train tickets but failed to provide any after receiving payment. Instead, he only handed over a travel itinerary.
Police identified the man through video analysis and reviewed the case immediately. He was recognised and apprehended near the ticket vending machines the following day. Records show he had a prior conviction for fraud.
The suspect was taken into custody and scheduled to appear before a magistrate on the same day as his arrest.
No other cases of fraud involving ticket sales assistants at German airports or train stations have been reported in 2025. The arrest follows a swift investigation by federal police, who relied on video evidence to secure the detention. The suspect now faces legal proceedings for the alleged offence.
