Snack Bar Fined €7,400 for Illegally Employing Turkish Worker
A snack bar in Bad Krozingen has faced severe penalties for employing a Turkish national illegally. The Main Customs Office Lörrach's Financial Control Black Work department discovered the violation during an inspection and issued two fines totaling around €7,400.
The Turkish employee had been working at the snack bar for a year, despite having an expired Polish residence permit for tourist purposes only. The employer, however, did not have a direct contract with the employee; instead, they had an agreement with a Polish leasing company. This company was found to be operating without the necessary permit for leasing employees.
The Main Customs Office Lörrach initiated proceedings against the employer, accusing them of aiding and abetting illegal residence and violating the Employee Leasing Act. The employer's contract was with the Polish leasing company, and payments were handled through this company, not directly with the Turkish employee.
