Six employee archetypes could transform how businesses manage talent

A new study by ManpowerGroup highlights how businesses can improve workforce strategies by understanding different employee personalities. The Global Talent Barometer identifies six key archetypes, each with unique strengths and challenges. Researchers say this approach can help businesses boost satisfaction, productivity, and loyalty among teams.

The survey collected responses from 12,062 employees across 16 countries between April 15 and May 10, 2024. It measured well-being, job satisfaction, and confidence in the workplace. Based on the findings, ManpowerGroup defined six employee archetypes: The Gladiator, The Zen Gardener, The Mountaineer, The Skeptic, The Castle Lord, and The Lookout.

ManpowerGroup, which employs around 11,000 people in Germany, has been influencing the labour market for 75 years. The company specialises in recruiting, developing, and managing skilled talent. Its latest report suggests that HR departments should use data to analyse their workforce and tailor solutions to different employee types. To strengthen teams, the study recommends reducing workplace stress and reinforcing company values. It also advises providing clear frameworks, supporting individual career growth, and improving collaboration. These steps, according to the findings, can lead to a more engaged and effective workforce.

The Global Talent Barometer offers HR leaders a way to design better workforce strategies. By recognising distinct employee archetypes, companies can address specific needs and enhance overall performance. The insights come from a wide-ranging survey, giving businesses a data-driven approach to talent management.
