Singapore Updates GST Regulations: InvoiceNow Mandatory for New Registrants
Singapore is updating its Goods and Services Tax (GST) regulations. From November 2025, newly incorporated companies that voluntarily register for GST within the first six months will need to use InvoiceNow. This requirement expands to all new voluntary GST registrants from April 2026, regardless of incorporation date. However, overseas entities and businesses registered under the Reverse Charge regime are excluded.
GST-registered companies in Singapore have specific tax payment and filing deadlines. Non-GIRO taxpayers must settle their taxes by April 30, July 31, October 31, or January 31 of the following year, depending on their accounting period. Taxpayers can request extensions to file GST returns, but the request must be submitted at least five working days before the deadline.
GST returns and payments are due one month after the end of each accounting period. GIRO payments are deducted on the 15th of the month following the standard payment deadline. Both GIRO and non-GIRO taxpayers must file GST returns by the same deadline. GIRO deduction schedules are May 15, August 15, November 15, and February 15 for the respective accounting periods.
These changes aim to streamline GST processes and promote digitalisation. Businesses should prepare for the new requirements and ensure they stay updated with the revised tax deadlines.
