Shell Recharge Launches e-Deal Tariff for Cheaper EV Charging
Shell Recharge has launched the e-Deal tariff, a new subscription plan designed to make electric vehicle (EV) charging more affordable for frequent drivers. The plan offers a 25% discount on electricity prices at over 1,500 ultra-fast charging points across Germany, with rates as low as 0.44 euros per kilowatt-hour. This price is even lower than what some operators and e-Mobility service providers have been charging, with rates as high as 1.05 euros/kWh for both alternating and direct current.
Shell has been expanding its ultra-fast charging network since 2019, doubling the number of charging points to around 1,500 in the past year. These charging points, with at least 150 kW of power, are located at service stations across the country. The e-Deal tariff is particularly beneficial for frequent drivers, offering up to 2,000 kilometers of range with an average consumption of 20 kWh per 100 kilometers.
The e-Deal tariff costs 4.99 euros per month and can be canceled on a monthly basis. Subscribers receive a significant discount on up to 400 kWh of electricity per month. Florian Glattes, head of Shell station business in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, sees the e-Deal tariff as a way to reward loyalty to the Shell brand. Shell's goal is to make electromobility more affordable and practical for everyday use, aligning with its commitment to becoming a net-zero emissions energy provider by 2050.
