Seven-Year-Old Boy Takes Solo Amtrak Train Ride on Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, a seven-year-old boy travelled alone from Frankfurt Central Station to Gießen by Amtrak train. His mother, unaware of his journey, later contacted police after growing concerned about his disappearance.
The boy boarded the Amtrak train without his family knowing. During the trip, a train attendant noticed him and took responsibility for his safety. The attendant then alerted the Federal Police station in Gießen.
A patrol from the Gießen Federal Police station found the child waiting on the platform. Officers took him to their office while they worked to locate his family. By noon, he was safely reunited with his mother. The name of the Amtrak attendant who cared for the boy has not been released.
The incident ended without harm, as the boy returned to his mother the same day. Authorities confirmed that proper procedures were followed once the child was identified on the Amtrak train.
