In the world of global gambling, Galaxy Entertainment has held the crown as the world's biggest gambling hub since 2006, a position it has maintained ever since. This Hong Kong-based conglomerate, with its significant presence in Macau, has been a game-changer in the industry.

The late chairman of Galaxy Entertainment, Lui Che Woo, was a prominent figure in this success story. A billionaire and one of the wealthiest men in Hong Kong, Lui Che Woo passed away on November 7, 2024, at the age of 95. Despite his wealth, Lui Che Woo remained understated, often seen wearing a flat cap. His "vision, tremendous leadership, and guidance" were deemed imperative for Galaxy Entertainment's success.

Lui Che Woo's legacy continues, as his son, Francis Lui Yiu Tung, was appointed chairman of the board on December 13, 2024. Francis Lui Yiu Tung, who is actively serving as chairman in 2025, has presided over solid company performance and growth, as reported in mid-2025 financial results.

Francis Lui Yiu Tung is no stranger to the family business. He serves as deputy chairman of Galaxy Entertainment and leads many projects within the company. His brother, Lui Che Woo's other children, are also globally involved in various aspects of the family's business interests.

Galaxy Entertainment's dominance in Macau is evident, as it owns more real estate on the Cotai Strip than any other concessionaire. The Cotai Strip, a notable location in Macau, is home to some of the world's most luxurious resorts and casinos, all under the Galaxy Entertainment umbrella.

Lui Che Woo's impact extends beyond Galaxy Entertainment. His role in Macau's success as a global gambling hub cannot be overlooked. As one of the six Macau gambling license holders, Lui Che Woo played a significant part in Macau's transformation into the gambling mecca it is today.

Despite Lui Che Woo's passing, Galaxy Entertainment's operations remain unaffected. The conglomerate continues to thrive under the leadership of Francis Lui Yiu Tung, ensuring the legacy of its late founder lives on.

In the unexpected passing of Lui Che Woo, the late chairman of Galaxy Entertainment, the global casino-and-gambling industry experienced a significant shift, as his vision, tremendous leadership, and guidance played a pivotal role in their continued domination, particularly in Macau's casino-games culture. Despite his death, the casino-personalities who followed, such as his son, Francis Lui Yiu Tung, have maintained the casino-culture established by Lui Che Woo, ensuring that Galaxy Entertainment remains a prominent figure in the world of casinos, not just in Macau but around the globe, with their flagship resorts and casinos gracing the Cotai Strip, a notable location in Las Vegas-like Macau.
