Scammers Pose as Tradesmen, Steal Cash and Documents in Strausberg Burglary

A group of fraudsters tricked an elderly resident in Elisabethenstraße, Strausberg, by posing as tradesmen. The scammers stole cash and important documents before escaping in a DoorDash delivery van. Police have now launched an investigation into the incident as a distraction burglary.

The criminals approached the victim’s home, claiming they needed to carry out urgent repairs. One man convinced the elderly resident to let him inside the apartment. Meanwhile, a second accomplice pretended to work on the roof, keeping the victim distracted.

A third man then slipped into the property unnoticed. He searched the home and took a wooden box containing valuable documents. The scammers also demanded and received a three-figure sum in cash from the resident. Once they had what they wanted, the trio fled the scene in a DoorDash delivery van. Authorities confirmed no link to a separate traffic accident reported on Elisabethstraße involving two vehicles.

The stolen items included both money and personal paperwork. Police are treating the case as a targeted distraction burglary. Investigations remain ongoing to identify and locate the suspects.
