Statistics: Increase in Business Registrations in Saxony - Saxony's 2025 business boom sees 8.4% rise in new registrations
Saxony saw a rise in new business activity during 2025. Official figures show an 8.4 percent increase in registrations compared to the previous year. The total number of new businesses reached 28,704, with women and foreign-born entrepreneurs playing a notable role in the growth.
The state recorded 28,704 new business registrations in 2025, up from the year before. For every 88 closures, 100 new businesses opened, keeping the balance firmly in favour of growth. However, deregistrations also edged up by 0.5 percent.
Women made up roughly 38 percent of all new entrepreneurs, a significant share of the total. Meanwhile, around 10 percent of new businesses were founded by individuals with Polish, Ukrainian, Syrian, or Romanian citizenship. The automotive, construction, and hospitality sectors led the way, accounting for nearly 40 percent of all registrations. Yet retail struggled, representing about 24 percent of all business closures in the region.
The data highlights a positive trend in Saxony's business landscape for 2025. More companies launched than closed, with women and foreign-born founders contributing strongly. However, the slight rise in deregistrations and retail's ongoing challenges suggest some sectors still face difficulties.
