Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation Supports 75 Projects This Year - Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation Unveils €1M in New Funding and Bold 2025 Projects
The Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation has announced a series of new projects and funding initiatives for 2025 and beyond. Nearly €1 million in third-party funding has been secured for the Glühende Horizonte art trail, while 75 grants were approved for next year alone. The foundation continues to expand its support for artists across fine arts, performing arts, and residencies.
One standout programme, the Heimatstipendium, will enter its next phase in 2026, offering six artists year-long placements in museums and libraries. Meanwhile, a major exhibition on textile designer Benita Koch-Otte is set for 2025, marking the centenary of the Bauhaus’s relocation from Weimar to Dessau.
The foundation’s latest initiative, Glühende Horizonte, launched in Allstedt as an art trail featuring 13 regional artists. The rural setting was chosen deliberately to bring art closer to people’s daily lives. Nearly €1 million in external funding was raised to support the project, highlighting its scale and ambition.
In 2024, the foundation distributed €681,204 to artists and cultural projects. This funding spans multiple disciplines, from fine arts to performing arts and artist residencies. The foundation’s database now includes around 700 grant recipients, reflecting its long-term commitment to the arts. Looking ahead, the Heimatstipendium programme will fund six artists for 12 months starting in April 2026. Confirmed participants include writer Simone Trieder, who will work at the Gottfried-August-Bürger-Museum in Molmerswende. The other five artists will be based across five museums and one library, with projects running until March 2027. A new opportunity in 2025 will see the foundation award its first residency at Rome’s Casa di Goethe. This adds to the growing list of international collaborations. Additionally, the 2025 exhibition on Benita Koch-Otte will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus’s move to Dessau, offering a historical and artistic reflection on the period.
The Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation’s funding and programmes will support artists at various career stages. The Glühende Horizonte trail, Heimatstipendium residencies, and the Koch-Otte exhibition form key parts of its 2025–2026 plans. With nearly €1 million in new funding and 75 grants approved for 2025, the foundation’s impact on the regional arts scene continues to grow.
