Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation Supports 75 Projects This Year - Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation unveils bold 2024–2025 cultural initiatives

The Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation has announced a series of new projects and funding initiatives for 2024 and beyond. Among the highlights is the upcoming Glühende Horizonte art trail, which opened in May, alongside plans for a major Bauhaus-linked exhibition in 2025. The foundation continues to expand its support for artists across disciplines, with grants, residencies, and community-focused programmes.

In total, nearly €681,204 was allocated to artists and cultural projects in 2024. Next year will see 75 new grants awarded, along with a prestigious residency in Rome and the next phase of the Heimatstipendium programme.

The foundation’s latest project, Glühende Horizonte, launched on May 18 in Allstedt. The outdoor art trail features works by 13 regional artists and runs until October 5, 2024. Nearly €1 million in external funding was secured for the initiative, which deliberately chose a rural setting to bring art closer to local communities.

Looking ahead, 2025 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus’s relocation from Weimar to Dessau. To commemorate this, the foundation is planning an exhibition dedicated to textile designer Benita Koch-Otte (1892–1976). The show will explore her contributions to modern design and her ties to the Bauhaus movement. The Heimatstipendium programme will also enter its next phase in 2026. Six artists, including writer Simone Trieder, will begin 12-month residencies in April at museums and a library across Saxony-Anhalt. Their projects, inspired by local collections, will run until March 2027. Trieder will work at the Gottfried-August-Bürger-Museum in Molmerswende, while five other selected artists will develop projects at additional cultural sites. Beyond these initiatives, the foundation maintains a database of around 700 past grant recipients. Support spans fine and applied arts, publications, performing arts, film, and interdisciplinary work. In 2025, a new residency at Rome’s Casa di Goethe will be offered, providing another opportunity for artists to develop their practice abroad.

The Saxony-Anhalt Arts Foundation’s latest funding and projects reinforce its role in supporting regional culture. With exhibitions, residencies, and community-focused art trails, the organisation continues to back both established and emerging artists. The 2025 Bauhaus anniversary and ongoing Heimatstipendium programme will further expand its impact in the coming years.
