Savings Bank Leader Inspires Young Readers on National Read-Aloud Day

Stefan G. Reuß, President of the Hessian-Thuringian Savings Banks Association (SGVHT), took part in this year’s nationwide Read-Aloud Day. He visited a first-grade class in Fulda, where he read a children’s book to 20 eager students. The event highlights the ongoing partnership between the savings banks and the Reading Foundation in promoting literacy among young learners.

Reuß spent time with class 1a at Fulda’s Adolf-von-Dalberg School, sharing Earhart: The Adventurous Flight of a Vole Around the World. The story captivated the children, showcasing how reading aloud can spark imagination and engagement. He later stressed the broader benefits of reading, from boosting language skills to fostering empathy and critical thinking.

The Read-Aloud Day visit underscores the SGVHT’s active role in encouraging early literacy. By donating books and engaging directly with students, the association helps build a foundation for lifelong learning. Schools across the region will now have new resources to inspire young readers in their classrooms.
