Sabotage suspected after Langen transformer station break-in causes blackout

A power outage hit several buildings in Langen following an unknown intrusion into a transformer station on Amperestraße. The incident resulted in a temporary blackout, which was later restored within 45 minutes. Police are now investigating the case as suspected sabotage and trespassing.

The break-in occurred in the evening when individuals climbed over the fence encircling the substation. They then forced open the door and entered the facility. Inside, they removed a protective cover, potentially targeting copper cables.

The substation on Amperestraße was secured after the incident, and power was fully restored. Investigators are examining evidence to determine whether copper theft was the motive. Further updates will depend on the ongoing police probe.
