Sabotage at Two Construction Plants in Offenbach District Causes β¬12,000 in Damage
Authorities are investigating a series of sabotage incidents at two construction material plants in the Offenbach district. The latest attack occurred at the Rodgau plant, where offenders caused β¬10,000 in damage to a conveyor belt. This follows a similar incident at the Heusenstamm gravel plant two weekends prior, resulting in β¬2,000 in losses.
The Rodgau incident was discovered after several hours of operation when the belt tore. Investigators found holes in the perimeter fence, suggesting unlawful entry between 10 PM on Saturday and 8 AM the next day. The offenders targeted the conveyor belt's rubber tread, causing significant damage.
Two weekends earlier, unknown individuals damaged power cables on two pieces of machinery at the Heusenstamm gravel plant. The total estimated loss was β¬2,000. Authorities believe these two incidents may be linked, potentially due to a political motive. The State Protection Division has taken over the investigation to explore this possibility and examine any connections between the two cases.
Authorities are urging witnesses, particularly those who may have been in the remote areas around the plants, such as cyclists, pedestrians, or mushroom foragers, to come forward with any information. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
