S-Bahn Line to Offenbach to be Reopened Soon - S-Bahn Frankfurt Resumes Service After 180M Euro Renovation
After more than two weeks of closure, train services on several S-Bahn lines in the Frankfurt and Offenbach region will resume on Monday. The reopening follows extensive construction work on fire protection and station renovations, with a total investment of around 180 million euros.
The eastern terminal stations of Rödermark Ober-Roden, Dietzenbach, and Hanau, which were affected by the closure, will be accessible by train again starting Monday. Commuters who had been using replacement buses on this section can now return to their usual train services.
The closure impacted the S1, S2, S8, and S9 lines. S-Bahn trains between Frankfurt and Offenbach will also resume service on Monday, starting at around 5 AM. The construction work included improvements to fire protection at three Offenbach stations and the renovation of Frankfurt-Mühlberg station.
The resumption of service marks the completion of the first phase of the Nordmainische S-Bahn infrastructure project, which aims to enhance capacity and service quality. Funded jointly by Deutsche Bahn and regional authorities, the project involves building two new tracks spanning 19 kilometers and new stations, with the German Federal Government and the state of Hesse contributing to the total investment of around 180 million euros.
