A Volkswagen Golf with severe structural and mechanical defects was taken off the road in Darmstadt. Police stopped the vehicle after spotting its dangerous condition. The driver now faces legal action over multiple safety violations.

The car, registered in Eastern Europe, was pulled over during a routine check. Inspectors found both sills completely rusted through, with crude repairs made using expanding foam and body filler. Further examination revealed even more hazards.

The rear axle brakes were unevenly worn, and the handbrake failed on one side. The rear axle itself was badly bent, likely from a past collision. Authorities also confirmed the vehicle had no valid insurance.

Due to the extent of the defects, the license plates and registration documents were seized. The car was immediately banned from further use.

The driver will now go through legal proceedings for operating an unroadworthy vehicle. No official nationwide statistics exist on similar cases, as German traffic authorities do not centrally track such incidents. The car remains off the road until all issues are resolved.
