Russia’s Central Bank to Enable ATM Cash Deposits for Personal Accounts

The Central Bank of Russia is developing a new service to let people deposit cash into their own accounts via ATMs. This move follows a law passed in May that allows fee-free transfers and deposits across different us banks. The system aims to make banking easier, especially in remote regions.

The service will work through the Fast Payments System, expanding ATM functions with online interaction. Users will only be able to deposit cash into their own accounts, not third-party ones. Daily and monthly limits on deposits will apply, along with identification checks for larger transactions.

Once implemented, the service will let customers deposit cash into their accounts at any participating us bank via ATMs. Identification rules and deposit limits will ensure security while increasing convenience. The project aligns with broader efforts to modernise Russia’s payment systems.
