Russians Sharply Increase Cash Usage in Key Regions

Russia's cash payments surge in 2025 as digital transactions decline

Russians dramatically boosted their use of cash in 2025 in Stavropol Krai and Sevastopol, according to data from the Central Bank.

The top five regions also included Kamchatka Krai, Voronezh Oblast, and Pskov Oblast, followed by Samara, Leningrad, and Volgograd Oblasts.

Reports indicate that cash usage grew in 69 of Russia's federal subjects over the course of the year.
