Russian Woman Fined €31,000 Over Disputed Kia Mohave Import

A court in Vladivostok has ordered a woman to pay €31,000 in customs duties after she was accused of illegally importing a Kia Mohave from South Korea. The ruling follows a dispute over whether she was responsible for bringing the vehicle into the country in 2022. The case centred on a Kia Mohave imported in 2022, with purchase docs containing the woman’s notarized passport copy and personal details. She insisted her signature on the agreement had been forged and denied any involvement in the import. The court examined her claims but found no proof that another person had arranged the vehicle’s transport. Without evidence supporting her defence, judges ruled that she remained liable for the unpaid duties. No information emerged about which company shipped the car from South Korea to Vladivostok. The court’s decision rested solely on the docs linking the woman to the import. The woman must now pay the €31,000 penalty after failing to prove someone else acted on her behalf. The verdict confirms her legal responsibility for the customs debt tied to the Kia Mohave’s entry into Russia.
