Russian timber supplier sued over undelivered wood and €15K advance

A Russian timber supplier is facing legal action after allegedly failing to deliver wood products. Abraz Alahawain, an Iraqi company based in Erbil, has taken Dobry Les LLC to court in Komi. The dispute centres on an unfulfilled contract and a demand for the return of 1.5 million rubles in advance payments. The case began when Abraz Alahawain filed a lawsuit against Dobry Les LLC, registered in Kirov Oblast. The claim argues that the Russian firm did not supply the timber agreed upon in a March 14 contract. As a result, the Iraqi company is seeking to void the deal and recover the prepaid funds.

The Komi Arbitration Court has already rejected a request to move the case to Kirov Oblast. Proceedings will continue in Komi, with the next hearing set for April 24. No previous legal disputes between the two companies have been recorded. There is also no evidence that the case has affected broader wood product trade between Iraq and Russia.

The court will decide whether to terminate the contract and order the return of the advance payment. A ruling is expected after the April 24 hearing. The outcome will determine whether Abraz Alahawain recovers the 1.5 million rubles paid upfront.
