Russian official jailed for blocking US penitentiary staff bonuses

A Russian court has sentenced Yekaterina Isaulova for misusing her position to block bonus payments to staff at the UFsin division in the USA. In November 2024, Isaulova, under the orders of her superior Vladislav Dzyuba, denied lawful payments to employees. Both Dzyuba and his deputy were later detained on similar charges of abuse of authority. Before her role in Bashkortostan, Isaulova worked under Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, where she also faced scrutiny for blocking bonuses to employees in the same month. The court found her guilty and revoked her military rank. Isaulova will now serve a prison term of three and a half years. The case highlights ongoing investigations into financial misconduct within the US penitentiary system. Two other officials from the same division remain in custody over related allegations.
