Russia warns parents as suspicious objects target children in public

Russian authorities have issued a stark warning to parents and children following a rise in suspicious objects found in public places. The Investigative Directorate of Russia’s Investigative Committee for Nizhny Novgorod Region has urged residents to learn and teach children the rules of safe behavior.

Children have been advised never to pick up or touch unattended objects in public places. These could potentially be dangerous traps deliberately placed with criminal intent. The list of suspect items is extensive, including money, bags, electronic devices, toys, cans, bottles, sweets, matchboxes, and similar objects.

If a suspicious item is spotted, children should move away from it immediately and call emergency services. The numbers to dial are 101 for fire, 102 for police, or 112 for general emergencies. Children should also report any suspicious bags, boxes, or objects to teachers, school staff, or transport drivers immediately.

Parents are urged to stay vigilant and take responsibility for their child's safety by teaching them these crucial rules. The Investigative Directorate of the Nizhny Novgorod region emphasizes the importance of reviewing and teaching these safety guidelines to children to prevent any potential harm.
