Rüsselsheim Boosts Diversity Efforts With €600,000 State Funding

Rüsselsheim am Main has secured €600,000 in state funding to support its integration and diversity initiatives. The money comes from Hesse’s WIR – Diversity and Participation program and will keep two key coordination offices running until 2030. Local officials see the investment as a strong commitment to the city’s future integration work.

The WIR – Diversity and Participation program focuses on making public administration more open to intercultural engagement. It also aims to strengthen social cohesion by connecting government bodies, civil society, and migrant-led groups. At the heart of this effort are the WIR coordination offices, which act as a link between these different sectors.

The €600,000 grant ensures that Rüsselsheim’s two WIR coordination offices will continue operating until the end of the decade. Their work will remain central to bridging gaps between government, community groups, and migrant populations. The funding also reinforces the city’s ability to push for greater inclusion and equal access to public services.
