Rüsselsheim am Main gears up for heavy rain with new hazard map and public events

In the worst-case scenario, careless actions can also lead to personal injuries. To raise awareness of the increased risk of heavy rain events as a result of the climate crisis, a heavy rain hazard map for the city of Rüsselsheim am Main was developed with financial support from the state of Hesse. This can serve as a basis for further planning and, above all, for information. Because in heavy rain events, it's important to be well prepared. On Tuesday, September 30th, an information event on heavy rain will take place in the council chamber of the Rüsselsheim town hall, entrance Faulbruchstraße, at 6:00 PM. The goal is to present initial results and answer questions. All interested parties are invited to get information and share experiences. The city wants to inform citizens about what they can do on their properties to protect themselves from heavy rain events. The results from the citizen dialogue will then be incorporated into the map, which will be completed and published by the end of the year. Those who are interested in population protection, flooding, and heavy rain are invited to the population protection action day around the Rüsselsheim town hall on October 4th. Here, you can inform yourself, get active, and try out, for example, how heavy sandbags are and how to secure your basement door against incoming water. The program for the action day will be announced in more detail later. ## Further Information ## Presentation from the information event on the heavy rain hazard map on 30.09.2025 (PDF) ## Related Topics 29.09.2025 Press Release ### Rüsselsheim Day of Population Protection on 4 October The city of Rüsselsheim am Main, the fire department, civil and disaster protection office, and the local branches of the aid organizations invite you to an action day this year. **Details** Extreme Weather ### Heavy Rain **Details** Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation ### Citizen Participation in Climate Adaptation in Rüsselsheim **Details** 16.09.2025 Press Release ### Week of Climate Adaptation From September 15th to 19th, the Week of Climate Adaptation will take place nationwide.
