RTL Hessen’s longtime leader Eberhard Volk steps down after 24 years

RTL Hessen GmbH will see a change in leadership next year. Eberhard Volk, who has led the regional news hub for over two decades, is stepping down. His successor, Katrin Raap, will take over as managing director on March 1, 2026.

Eberhard Volk has been at the helm of RTL Hessen since 2005, having played a central role in its founding in 2002. Under his leadership, the Frankfurt and Kassel-based team grew to around 60 employees. They produce daily news reports, videos, and articles for RTL’s national formats, as well as the independent regional programme RTL Hessen. Volk also established the hub as a key field studio for RTL’s news and magazine shows. Martin Gradl, managing director of RTL News and ntv, highlighted Volk’s contributions in building the operation into a strong regional presence.

Volk will leave RTL Hessen after shaping its growth for more than two decades. Raap’s arrival on March 1, 2026, brings a leader with deep experience in RTL’s news and production divisions. The change comes as the regional hub continues its role in delivering news and magazine content for national and digital audiences.
