RheinMainMedia Undergoes Major Changes Ahead of Bintz-Verlag Takeover
RheinMainMedia GmbH, a joint venture handling advertising and distribution for major regional titles, is undergoing significant changes. All media consultants have been offered contracts with Bintz-Verlag, while some back-office positions have been cut. The company, which manages digital portals attracting 93.5 million monthly visits, will serve around 4,500 active business clients under Bintz-Verlag's management.
As of January 1, 2026, Bintz-Verlag will take over marketing for prominent newspapers such as Frankfurter Neue Presse, Frankfurter Rundschau, and the Rhine-Main edition of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The combined reach of RheinMain.Media's newspapers totals 815,000 daily readers, with free weeklies reaching up to 785,000 households. Bintz-Verlag, part of the Ippen Group, will market these titles alongside its own publications and free advertising papers with a dedicated team of 60.
The transition comes with leadership changes. Managing Director Achim PflĂźger will retire at the end of 2025, making way for Jelisaweta Scherdel to head the new RheinMain.Media sales unit. The leadership of this department will be shared by Peter Fuchs and Markus Eckstein post-PflĂźger's retirement.
FAZ GmbH is selling its shares in RheinMainMedia GmbH to Frankfurter SocietaĚts-Medien GmbH by the end of the year. Under Bintz-Verlag, RheinMain.Media will serve more clients and expand its distribution network to 150 km east to west and 90 km north to south. The integration of marketing for major regional titles is expected to strengthen Bintz-Verlag's position in the market.
