RBI launches two-month drive to clear pending ombudsman complaints in January 2026

RBI to launch two-month campaign in January 2026 to resolve grievances pending with ombudsman since January 2026. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will initiate a special two-month campaign in January 2026 to clear pending customer complaints. Targeting grievances unresolved with the RBI Ombudsman for over 30 days, Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced the move during the latest monetary policy meeting. The campaign aims to resolve all outstanding grievances filed with the RBI Ombudsman from January 2026 onwards. Under the Ombudsman scheme, customers can seek free redressal if their complaints about service deficiencies are not addressed within a month by regulated entities. The initiative will focus on clearing backlogged complaints efficiently. Customers with unresolved issues from January 2026 can expect faster resolutions through the Ombudsman’s office. The RBI’s campaign aligns with its broader goal of improving service standards across the banking sector.
