Ralf Peters retires after 30 years of revolutionizing automotive claims management

Ralf Peters, a respected figure in claims management and automotive industries, retired on 31 May 2023 after more than 30 years of service. Known for his expertise in digital solutions and claims processing, he remained active in the field even after stepping back from full-time work. His contributions left a lasting mark on the industry, particularly through initiatives like Germany's first Schadenmeile (Claims Mile) in 2011.

Peters built his career across major companies, holding senior positions at Audatex, Carinfo Service, Sikkens, and Akzo Nobel Group. His deep knowledge of calculation software, data transmission, and specialist workshops made him a key player in modernising claims management. Beyond corporate roles, he co-founded the 1. Deutschen Schadenmeile in 2011—a pioneering cooperative for full-service automotive claims processing.

Even after retirement, Peters stayed connected to the sector. He maintained ties with K&L operations, Akzo Nobel, Sikkens, DMS-Deutschland, and Global Automotive Service GmbH (G.A.S.). In early 2023, he also presented the Acoat Selected Intense partnership alongside Kai Gräper, integrating services from G.A.S., carSN, and KhS Know-how Systems.

Though he officially retired, Peters planned to return part-time in September 2023, working with a claims management company. His dedication to the industry's growth, combined with his passion and empathy, earned him widespread respect and a lasting legacy.

Peters' career spanned decades of innovation in claims processing, from digital tools to collaborative industry projects. His work shaped modern practices in automotive and insurance sectors, while his post-retirement involvement ensured ongoing influence. The absence of recent initiatives like the Schadenmeile highlights his unique role in driving such developments.
