Fire in Gas Station Store - Quick-Thinking Worker Stops Gas Station Fire on Christmas Night

A quick-thinking employee helped prevent a major disaster at a nearby gas station in Wetzlar on Christmas Day. The fire broke out in the retail area late in the evening but was spotted early enough to avoid serious harm.

The incident began just after 10 PM on Wednesday when a 22-year-old worker at the Autogas station noticed flames in the sales area. They immediately raised the alarm, allowing firefighters to respond swiftly.

Investigators later traced the cause to an electrical fault in the suspended ceiling. Crews brought the blaze under control before it could spread further. No one was injured during the incident.

The fire caused an estimated €150,000 in property damage. Authorities confirmed that the early detection and rapid response kept the situation from worsening. The gas station remains closed while repairs are assessed.
