Producer prices for services rise in the third quarter

Producer prices for services in Germany climbed by 1.9 percent in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The increase also marked a 0.5 percent rise from the previous quarter, reflecting broad price shifts across multiple industries.

The steepest growth appeared in administrative and support services, where prices jumped by 3.2 percent year-over-year. Cleaning services alone surged by 4.9 percent, leading the sector’s rise.

Legal and tax consulting saw a notable increase of 4.8 percent, driven by higher personnel, material, and energy costs. This pushed the overall professional, scientific, and technical services sector up by 2.8 percent from Q3 2024.

In transportation and storage, prices edged up by 0.3 percent overall. Postal services rose sharply by 5.7 percent, while storage services increased by 3.0 percent. However, maritime and coastal freight transport bucked the trend with a steep 19.4 percent drop in prices.

The information and communication sector recorded a 1.6 percent year-over-year rise, with software and licensing fees climbing by 2.2 percent. Meanwhile, real estate and housing prices grew by 2.0 percent, with residential and commercial rents up by 1.9 percent.

The latest figures show varied price movements across Germany’s service sectors. While some areas, like legal consulting and cleaning services, saw strong growth, others, such as maritime freight, experienced significant declines. The overall trend points to a 1.9 percent annual increase in service producer prices for Q3 2025.
