Primary School Students Explore Administration and Facilities in Mainhausen
Third-graders from Käthe-Paulus School recently visited Mainhausen Town Hall for a hands-on lesson in local government. The children spent the day exploring key parts of the town, guided by Mayor Frank Simon himself. Their tour included stops at the volunteer fire department, Zellhausen Lake, and the public works depot.
The day began with a warm welcome from Mayor Frank Simon, who also led the group through the municipal administration. The pupils didn’t hold back, asking him direct questions about life in the community.
At the volunteer fire department, the children learned about the vital roles of emergency responders. They saw firsthand how firefighters prepare for emergencies and protect the town. Later, at the public works depot, staff explained the daily tasks that keep Mainhausen running smoothly.
A highlight of the visit was Zellhausen Lake, where employees from the municipal utility shared insights over warm drinks. The children listened as they discussed the lake’s importance to the town and how it is maintained.
Mayor Simon believes visits like this help young students understand local government and encourage civic responsibility. The third-graders left with a clearer picture of how their town operates and the people who keep it functioning. The experience was part of their social studies curriculum on community roles.
