Police seize heavily modified BMW after finding 26 dangerous defects
A 20-year-old driver was pulled over on Federal Highway 45 after police spotted his heavily modified BMW. The vehicle had been lowered and fitted with unauthorised changes, leading to immediate action by officers. The car was found to be in a dangerous condition, prompting further inspection.
During the traffic stop, officers discovered the BMW had undergone extensive alterations. The differential had been modified to enable drifting and burnouts, severely damaging the rear axle and tyres. A full inspection later revealed a total of 26 significant defects, three of which were classified as dangerous faults.
The car also had five minor issues, including faults with the lighting system and suspension. Due to the severity of the problems, the driver was banned from continuing his journey. Police confiscated the license plates and registration documents on the spot. As a result of the violations, the driver now faces a fine running into the triple digits. He will also receive penalty points recorded in Flensburg, Germany’s central traffic violation registry.
The incident highlights the risks of unapproved vehicle modifications. The driver’s BMW was deemed unroadworthy, and he will no longer be able to use it until the issues are resolved. Authorities have made it clear that such alterations will not be tolerated on public roads.
