Police seek witnesses after suspicious hedge fire and diesel theft in Germany
Two separate incidents in Bad Hersfeld and Kirchheim have prompted police to seek public help. On March 4, a hedge was deliberately set alight in the Sorga district, while diesel fuel was stolen from a truck overnight. Authorities are now calling for witnesses to come forward with any details they may have.
At around 3:50 PM on March 4, unknown individuals ignited dry wood in a hedge along An der Schule street in Bad Hersfeld's Sorga district. The fire was brought under control quickly, but investigators are still working to identify those responsible.
In a separate case, diesel fuel worth several hundred euros was siphoned from a truck parked in Kirchheim. The theft occurred sometime between 6:00 PM on March 3 and 7:00 AM the following morning.
Police have urged anyone with information about either incident to contact Bad Hersfeld Police Station. Reports can also be submitted online via the Hessian police website at www.polizei.hessen.de.
Official crime statistics show no recorded cases of diesel theft or deliberate hedge fires in Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Schwalm-Eder-Kreis, or Waldeck-Frankenberg over the past year. This makes the recent incidents unusual for the region.
