Police crack down on banned trucks in Zelle’s restricted zone

Police in Bad Kƶnig carried out checks on trucks passing through Zelle this week. The operation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, targeting vehicles breaching a local traffic ban. Officers inspected a total of 50 trucks during the two-day enforcement.

The truck ban in Zelle covers heavy goods vehicles, ā€˜Sprinter-class’ vans, and pickup trucks with commercial registrations towing trailers. Authorities introduced the restriction in November 2020, though no official explanation for its implementation has been made public. Trucks must instead follow a designated detour via Vielbrunn when travelling to or from Michelstadt.

The enforcement action highlights ongoing efforts to control truck movements in Zelle. Drivers of affected vehicles must comply with the detour or risk further penalties. Authorities have not provided additional details on the ban’s origins or future adjustments.
