POL-OF: Bold Break-in Attempt at Gas Station: Trio Arrived and Fled with Dark Audi
A gas station on Westerburgstraße in Hanau was targeted by masked intruders in the early hours of Monday. The attempted break-in caused significant damage, though nothing was stolen. Police are now searching for witnesses to help identify the suspects.
The incident took place at around 12:45 AM on December 22, 2025. Three individuals wearing balaclavas arrived in a dark Audi with Hanau licence plates. They used heavy tools to force open the side entrance door of the station.
Once inside, the trio damaged another door and electronic equipment. Their attempt was cut short when a fog security system activated, prompting them to flee towards Hanau Central Station in their car. A witness who saw the break-in called emergency services immediately. The criminal investigation department has since taken charge of the case. Authorities estimate the property damage to be several thousand euros. No stolen items have been reported, and the identities of the suspects remain unknown.
Police are urging anyone with information about the attempted break-in to come forward. The investigation continues as officers review evidence from the scene. The gas station remains closed while repairs are carried out.
