POL-LM: +++ Shot in the woods +++ Accidents under alcohol influence +++ Burglars in Eschhofen +++ Youths attacked on playground
A series of disturbances and crimes have shaken communities across the Limburg and Niederbrechen areas over the past few days. Incidents ranged from violent assaults and burglaries to dangerous driving and illegal weapon use.
Police are now investigating multiple cases, with several suspects already identified and detained.
On Sunday afternoon, two teenagers were caught firing air rifles in a forest near Heckholzhausen. The 16- and 18-year-old suspects lacked hunting permits or legal justification for carrying the weapons. Officers confiscated the air guns and launched criminal proceedings against them.
That same day, a 14-year-old boy was attacked with pepper spray by a group of youths on a children’s playground in Niederbrechen. The assailants—three masked teens aged 16 to 18—fled on e-scooters toward the train station after the assault. Local police later detained the suspects, who are now under investigation by authorities in Brechen, Hesse.
Meanwhile, a drunk driver caused a head-on collision near Dornburg, leaving both drivers and a passenger injured. The 42-year-old driver recorded a blood alcohol concentration of over 2.8 per mille. The extent of the injuries remains unclear.
In separate incidents, burglars targeted two apartments. In Limburg-Eschhofen, unknown perpetrators broke into a ground-floor flat, stealing several hundred euros in cash and causing around €500 in damage. In another case, thieves entered an apartment via a balcony, making off with jewellery and cash worth a low four-figure sum while damaging a window.
A 25-year-old woman in Hadamar also reported finding her car’s rear window smashed. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle, but police are treating the incident as criminal damage.
Authorities are actively pursuing leads in each case. The detained suspects face legal consequences, while investigations into the burglaries and hit-and-run continue. Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
