The incident occurred between July 18 and July 23, 2025, with transactions made in Rüsselsheim and Mainz. Authorities are now appealing for public help to identify the individual responsible.
The suspect first obtained the victim’s credit card on July 16, 2025, after misappropriating lost property. Over the following days, they used the card at various stores across Rüsselsheim and Mainz. Each transaction contributed to total damages running into several thousand euros.
Police have not yet released details about the suspect’s appearance or the exact stores involved. However, they confirm the fraudulent activity took place over a five-day period before the card was blocked. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and financial records to trace the suspect’s movements. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact local authorities. The police have emphasised the importance of reporting suspicious activity linked to the dates and locations in question.
