The man responsible, Garhi village resident Dinesh Mewara, 35, now faces charges after investigators recovered the leopard's severed paws from his property. Police detained Mewara after he confessed to chopping the limbs for financial profit, instantly closing the case that began with the discovery of the mutilated carcass in the Double Chowki forest range.

A 35-year-old man from Garhi village has been charged with killing a leopard after the animal was trapped in an illegal snare. Dinesh Mewara admitted to setting the trap for wild boars but later sold the leopard’s paws and claws for profit.

Forest officials discovered the leopard’s severed paws, an airgun, and other weapons during a search of Mewara’s property. He confessed to setting the snare, which was meant for wild boars, but instead trapped the leopard, leading to its death.

Mewara now faces legal consequences for the leopard’s death and the illegal sale of its body parts. Forest officials are stepping up efforts to prevent further wildlife deaths by enforcing stricter surveillance and penalties in high-risk areas.
