PNC Bank’s prolonged outage leaves customers stranded for weeks

Customers of PNC Bank are facing widespread service disruptions since the start of the year. The bank’s mobile app, Cash App platform, and contact centre have all been unavailable, leaving many unable to access essential services. The outages began on January 1, with notifications initially indicating unavailability before later citing technical maintenance as the cause.

The issues first appeared on New Year’s Day, when users encountered error messages on the bank’s app and Cash App. Later updates confirmed that technical maintenance was underway. Despite these efforts, the problems have persisted, affecting branches, digital services, and customer support channels.

The bank has acknowledged the disruption and issued an apology for the inconvenience caused. Specialists are reportedly working to restore full functionality, though no timeline for resolution has been provided. The outages come just after PNC Bank celebrated a milestone in 2025, having opened one million new deposit accounts over the previous year. As of January 17, 2026, no official statement has named the individuals or teams overseeing the technical recovery. The bank’s website and customer communications continue to direct users to wait for further updates.

The ongoing outages mean customers still cannot use the mobile app, Cash App, or contact the bank’s support team. PNC Bank has assured users that repairs are underway, but services remain suspended. The situation highlights the bank’s reliance on digital systems, which have been fully offline for over two weeks.
