PlasticsEurope appoints new leadership to drive circular economy goals by 2025

PlasticsEurope Deutschland e. V. has named Dr. Christine Bunte as its new leader, effective January 1, 2025. She takes over from Ingemar Bühler and will steer the association’s push for a climate-neutral circular economy. Alongside her, Dr. Alexander Kronimus has been appointed Deputy Managing Director to support the transition.

Dr. Bunte brings experience from her previous role as head of BASF’s Corporate Advocacy team in Ludwigshafen. Her focus will be on transforming the plastics industry toward sustainability and circularity. The Board has also tasked her with strengthening dialogue between policymakers, media, industry partners, and the public.

Dr. Alexander Kronimus, who previously managed the Climate Protection and Circular Economy division, will now serve as Deputy Managing Director. He had been involved in discussions on legal frameworks for plastics recycling, appearing in industry podcasts in mid-2024. The Board thanked him for his dedication during the transitional period. Dr. Ralf Düssel, Chairman of the Board, described Bunte as the perfect fit for the team. Together, she and Kronimus will lead the association’s next phase, combining industry expertise with strategic vision.

The new leadership team begins work in early 2025. Bunte’s appointment marks a shift toward stronger advocacy for circular economy policies. Kronimus’s continued role ensures stability as the association moves forward.
